Summer Skin, Sun kissed

A few months ago, just around the onslaught of spring I decided to take a break from wearing foundation. I am one of those unwilling makeup persons who loves a good routine, loves having a good foundation or three in my arsenal because you simply never know but make no mistake, I am a lazy makeup person therefore could never seek to influence anyone about any type of makeup. But one morning I woke up and decided to go bare skin with only blusher, liquid liner and mascara for a beat. It turned out to be good for my skin… who knew right? LOL.

It’ll be winter before I return to wearing a full beat again because I love how my skin feels without it. Here are a few of my tried and true:

Moisturiser:

GOOP SPF 50: This really is the best SPF on the market and I should know because I have tried a few to last a lifetime but this is moisturising and immediately absorbent. It goes on slickly on the skin too.

KEIHL’s SPF 30: my second favourite moisturiser and SPF combo. Anything Kiehl’s is always a good un but this is pipped by goop because it has bit of a white cast initially so you have to work it into your skin which doesn’t take long but I am sucker for convenience.

NOTE: if you have the drunken elephant SPF throw it in the bin. The white cast is terrible. If it works for you good, it does not work for my melanin.

Toner;

Rose Toner by FRESH. This is the best toner I have ever used, if you have combination skin, FRESH is an incredible brand and the rose toner is simply divine and worth every penny. Don’t look back don’t look sideways, get this in your beauty routine it is so, so good. a friend once told me rose as an ingredient is typically very good for melanin and so far I have found this to be very try anything rose works a dream for my skin.

Cleanser:

Tatcha rice cleanser; I stated in my newsletter that Tatcha pips Bader for me as a skin care brand and this I’m afraid will never change because this brand is perfection in all its current offerings and everything else in between. The rice face wash is my preferred of the two washes from the brand in comparison to the Matcha facewash; the matcha is good but the rice cleanser is GREAT.

Serum:

Tatch resurfacing serum: another good one from the brand I have come to really love and have on rotation in my skin care regiment. I have tried a fair few serums in my lifetime and this always works the magic.

Soap & Glory 3 in 1 Fabb Pore: this is the perfect serum for the humid summer days and months. It mattifies and stays matt. I have never found anything like it and now I can never find it in the stores so if you ever some across this product grab it with both hands and feet too.

Dr Sturm Hyaluronic serum: this is another powerful presence in my skin care regiment, and I swear by anything Dr Sturm puts out there. This serum is powerful and perfect. Possibly the best on the market.

Nighttime:

Indigo Overnight Repair: Tatcha for the win again, one of the most perfect nighttime creams there is out there. 2 in 1 serum in cream repair treatment that does what it says on the tin. Repairs and protects. But it also has that calming effect as it glides on to the skin and it enlivens the skin barrier which is prone to wear and tear of the elements.

For makeup, we are keeping it light and pushing, because we have a lot of sun to catch and not a moment to waste so its glosses and balms for us babes.

Lips: Summer Friday: this is the best balm on the market, and I say that as someone who buys into every hype out there when it comes to lip products because I am sucker for a good balm especially in the spring summer months and I have fallen mad in love with Summer Friday’s lip butter balm. Better than Rhodes and I say that as someone who also absolutely loves Rhode and has about six or seven of their products.

Blush: As always we are trying to keep it light therefore we go light hard on the blush too, I prefer a liquid blush in the summer and will opt for Glossier anything because let’s face it it’s the perfect no makeup, make up look for girls who simply haven’t got the time or brevity to full beat a face most days or inclined to. However, even for a full beat the blushers are incredibly pigmented and perfect.

Liquid Liner;

Pat McGrath Precision liquid liner: a solid addition to the rotation, it doesn’t yield but it is easy to clean off at the end of the day. I don’t know how mutha does it but it stays in place throughout the day and it’s a good precise application.

ELF Liquid liner: its good, oh it is SO GOOD. I have not tried a lot from this brand, but I can swear by this product its one in heavy rotation.

Mascara: HUDA Beauty 1 coat wow: it gives YSL babydoll and them lot a good run for its money and that is saying something because I swear by YSL mascaras I have only every used them until recently.

THE HERO:

Charlotte Tilbury Miracle Balm: for almost three years or so now this has been my go-to for end of day skin care, I only use this at night to condition, cleanse and protect my skin. As a make-up remover; its perfection and as an overnight protective balm it is a miracle and a staple and OH SO GOOD! It works perfectly with Tatcha when used as a makeup remover and the balm as overnight care. It was perfectly with Bader in the same capacity. So if you buy one produce for the season, this ought to be it.
