And it really is.
One thing about me, I am always going to rebuff a salad unless I absolutely have to and when I go to my sister’s, I have to because they are connoisseurs of good food and salads. I don’t like salads, and you almost have to tie me down and force down one of my 5 a day down my throat. However, on occasion there is a salad so wonderful that it deserves to be eaten to do anything else would be sacrilegious ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my brother in law’s summer salad. I have never tried a salad I immediately wanted to create save for a couple here and here. But this salad with its unusual mix of flavours and delicate balance of textural dance which does not overpower or does too much, made me want to immediately try it at home. When it comes to salad, I am a don’t try this at home kinda gal but this salad I absolutely tried at home and have loved it ever since. Its simple and sensually charming.
Ingredient:
- Kale
- Mango
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Avocado
- Radish thinly cut (I don’t like radish so I did away with them).
How to:
Toss it all together and you’re good to go. If like me, you abhor dressing-less salad this is also good without a dressing because the mangoes and avocados provide a good coating to the kale and the cherry tomatoes. You can also have some black pepper and a smattering or smokes salt if you want. But if you must you can also have a honey mustard dressing which is easy to make and drizzle on the salad, but for real you don’t need dressing the salad is delicious on its own or as a side to a solid steak or a finely grilled seabass.
Cook’s notes: You can also try this with strawberries and drizzle balsamic vinegar on top… a banger in my opinion.
