Day 21 | Shop Small, Shop Local

There is nothing quite like the British town high street, filled with little shops that sell locally made goods. The local farmers market, the local coffee shop that sells locally brewed coffee and cakes. Shop rare items you will not find in the big chain shops. Shop outside of Black Friday and cyber-Monday. Shop these stores because they are our community. Our neighbours run them, the young boy or girl we used to babysit works there now, the old lady down the streets makes ice cream for them, we are all interconnected to these places, so spend your money buying unique gifts from these shops. There is a lament on the state of the British high street because these are institutions pivotal to the survival of our community. Covid has been and gone yet the repercussions linger and will still do so for some time. Let’s not let shops get to a stage where we have to fund raise to keep them open, let’s support these shops because they in turn support us. So shop small, support local. Always.
