I am a firm believer in giving holidays their own space and time and that means, Christmas does not start before the 1st of December because Americans insist on thanksgiving being a thing despite its problematic roots and we all have or need something to be thankful for this season particularly, so holidays should always have their space and the season of advent really kicks off on the 1st because it’s the proper thing to do, and that includes playing Mariah Carey on the first and not before. Its like that nonsensical no white after labour day rule, when you think of it laterally, it is not really nonsensical, it makes sense because white is light like the summer, you wouldn’t wear linens in winter would you? Where was I? Yes the Christmas tree, it need not be lit until the 1st of December or the first week. And it goes down on the first Friday in January or the 8th of January which is some official date for Christmas trees to be taken down. I think. In any case the tree does not go up in November.
