I love stationery. In a former life I was a stationery, a finely woken notebook with the most luxurious paper, finely line, with a date tab and margin, cream paper that feels like linen to touch but does not let the ink bleed through, that makes you stand back and admire your hand writing and fills you with hope for what you have written down. I love stationery. The gift of stationery is one that so particular and uniquely reverent because stationery is such a personal thing, that feel of paper against your finger tips, the fine stock and swish too. Preferably lined but you know… it is up to you.
Notem Notebooks
Some of the best notebooks in the game, I would go so far as to say this is possibly the best notebook out there; the slight issue is that the wire binding is not as flexible as other wire bound notebooks,… its one of those fussy ones but that is only a minor drawback because the paper and purpose of these notebooks will remain unmatched. Perfect for the paper junkie and snob in your life. sky was so blue, and the sun so bright, that an eternal summer seemed to reign over this prospect.
Scented Pencils
Until very recently I did not know the one thing missing from my stationery arsenal was scented pencil. Take it from a stationery junkie, you need a scented pencil or two in your life and here is where Imogen Owen enters the chat. As a type A addictive personality I have tried and tested enough to know hers stands head and shoulder above the rest because the scent is ever so subtle and not cloying but a lovely whiff of it.
The Best Sharpener
It s not odd to recommend good sharpeners as part of stocking fillers, or actual gifts because these are not your run of the mill average sharpeners these are German engineered sharpeners that ought not to be sniffed at. At £6 a pop I would imagine not so much but if you know anyone worth their stationery salt this is a serious gift to gift them.
Montblanc Meisterstuck
It is stationery, its a pen, its a beautifully writing pen that carries weight and heft and its reputation does precede it. If you know anyone serious about stationery it is worth the investment.
Include a leather pen pouch engraved with their initials and extra refill. Might as well go the hog.
Pencil of Greatness
There are pencils and then there are pencils used by great artists and the likes, you will not find better than a Blackwing pencils. . A hybrid pencil that writes as well as it sketches. The rubber is not afixed to it which is a great feature unlike other pencils. It is really the rolls royce of pencils.
Correspondence
It is simple, you want to make an impression sending a thank you note or a short correspondence, Smythson stationery does it best. The card stock is stupendous and the feel is incredible. It comes with little motifs that are such a delight.
Stationery is such a fine gift to give, as the world turns increasingly more tech where screens replace the feel and touch of paper, it is such a special and thoughtful gift and should most certainly be gifted regularly.
