LAZY GIRL’S GIFT GUIDE | A FINE CURATION

We all know someone who likes a bottle of something fine, that person who can be a right royal paint to shop for hence we are going to get them a bottle of something stupendous that does not have to break the bank. Yeah I know, we can play it safe with a bottle of Dom but we can lift it.

Tawny Port

If you are going to serve port after dinner make it the finest and it does not come finer than Graham’s

Chateauneuf du Pape – Chateau de Beaucastel

Wild isn’t a word one would use to describe the refinement of a CDP but this is one wild and earthy bottle. Grenache and Mourvèdre grapes make a top showing, dancing along side pepper, cinnamon, violet, tobacco and leather. An elegant finish with a full bodied and well structured blend.

Catena Alta

One of the smoothest Malbecs on the market. Goes down easy, with notes of blackcurrant, vanilla, a whiff of tobacco too. Surprisingly balanced tannins with a rich deep colour.

This is a solid bottle with a long and lingering finish.

David & Nadia

What a delightful surprise this is; pear and melon marinate on the plaette laced with honey to offer it that smooth and textual finish that goes down a treat and it well balanced. Acidity is tempered with a fresh touch and a pinch of the spice

If you are new to Chenin this is definitely one to have on your list and in rotation.

Tokaji Aszu

A delightfully delicious bottle of wine, dried fruit honey and citrus and flowers. A bit of vanilla and oak that plays against a herby background. It is a sweet bottle of wine but not cloying.

Macallan 12yo Sherry Cask

There are few things in life smoother than a Macallan whisky, thankfully we do not know them. This is one of the finest with the sherry oak finish.

A bottle or two from the list will see you right, if in doubt Chateauneuf will be just fine
