CHRISTMAS WINDOWS | FORTNUM & MASON

You know how I feel about Fortnum’s it is my favourite department store in London. If ever there is a store that knows its brand, its consumer down to a fine science and understands that relationship with them? It is Fortnum’s. Absolutely completely so.

Afternoon Tea

the iconic jubilee tea salon that feels like one is ensconced in their very own jewellery box, the world outside suspended for a spell

The Lift Off

Those pokey little lifts that can’t fit more than three people maybe four at a pinch are a part of Fortnum’s history and signature, now even more so as we all rush around the store in search of the last bits and pieces of holiday fun. Why do they insist on moving stuff on the 3rd all the time!

And this window is an utter delight to look at. It was almost my best in show. It is basically showing us what happens when its well-known and popular product; tall tins, truffles, wines etc decide to throw a shindig for themselves, having done all the hard work of making people happy upon receipt it is now time for them to let their heads down or corks pop off and take something back for themselves. They are raiding the stores’ larder and getting together the goods and kicking up their feet for a jolly good time.

I don’t know how they do it but every year without question Fortnum captures the magic that is Christmas at just the right slant even if it is about cats or the food characters that star in Christmas, the production a la pudding.

An absolute delight.
