I am sure you know by now but I love a mean cupcake, in most flavours, except chocolate. Don’t ask, I don’t know what it is, but I am not a huge fan of chocolate. I’ll eat it but not a fan. Now cupcakes on the other hand are another belly of the beast, this beast. I love them. I’ve tried a a fair few and most have been good, pretty damn good. I even thought I tried the best until I went to the Peggy Porschen Cafe in Victoria. I must admit, I am late, so late to the party, my card should be revoked, but please forgive me.
Peggy Porschen makes the best cakes. That is a statement of truth as well as a testament of fact. Her cafe is a pretty little pink cafe on a side street in Victoria, its small inside, they have the most civil hours, 10-6pm and its perfect. I know I said Lola’s make the best Red Velvet cupcake, but Peggy Porschen has that down all the way pat. Do not even get me started on the salty caramel. The strawberry and champagne is license to correct your sensibilities. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. The flavours are as smooth as the cakes are pretty, nothing overly dramatic or complicated, just luscious and delicious simplicity. I LOVE IT.
What’s not to love? its art in its simplest form, and edible, set in a pretty little space in upscale Belgravia, where everything comes up in pretty pink roses…ahhhh. You can hardly miss it, it sticks out like a sore thumb in a brown brick building and its pastel fused interior welcomes with you with a sugar coated hug.
Look, its really simple; when in London head to Peggy Porschen’s.
